What is a MentoringCoach®? A MentoringCoach® is a guide who can help you to discover and explore the latent abilities that lie hidden within us all. He helps you identify and convert them to use, revealing your capabilities and values that you may have been unaware of. The competence of a MentoringCoach® is not only based on his credentials (a solid training in NLP = Neuro Linguistic Programming, Coaching and the basics of psychology), but also on his own life experience in the chosen area of specialisation. A MentoringCoach® for teenagers? Why? A MentoringCoach® works on increasing awareness by using a variety of techniques. By changing their outlook, teenagers can improve their attitudes and actions. Which means: they develop their capacity to determine and deal with their responsibilities in any given situation. They learn how to move through the process of setting and reaching goals, how to address problems, negative self talk, etc. The MentoringCoach® motivates and guides them in this process using NLP techniques (such as questioning, visualisation, dissociation, anchoring, etc.), as well as Coaching techniques (active listening, value assessment, capacity improving tools, etc.) towards a positive change, helping them to open up to new possibilities without giving advice or influencing them in any way. For which type of problem or difficulty would one call on a MentoringCoach®? - difficulties at school - concentration problems - lack of self confidence, withdrawal - verbal or physical violence against oneself or others - parent's divorce - communication problems …and for which goals? - successful studying, passing exams - improving relationships (family, friends, teachers, etc.) - stress management in varying situations (studies, exams) - learning to remain calm during discussions with parents, teachers, etc. - being at ease with themselves, coming out of their "shell", integrating - managing a project and making good choices - feeling good about themselves. How can the teens benefit from such a process? After the intervention of the MentoringCoach®, the teenager will have a better knowledge of his capacities. He will therefore be able to manage stress and emotions in a more effective way. His focus will be on constructive thoughts; his relationship with others will be improved. In general terms, he will have a more positive self-image. How many coaching sessions would be necessary? This depends on the goal to be achieved or the difficulty to be mastered. Usually, 5-10 sessions are sufficient (60 min. per week). If it is found that the client’s issues are beyond the frame of competence of the MentoringCoach®, he will refer him to a colleague specialising in the difficulty or to a therapist should the problem require it. |
